Yet another Ipod integration question

I'll begin with the obligatory apologies for not being able to decipher the answer from the many exisitng threads on the subject. Sorry, sorry, sorry but i'd appreciate some plain english answers to the following q's:

I've just taken delivery of a 55plate c320 (w203, i believe?) and need a definitive answer on how i can integrate my 30g ipod video so that i can control it through the head unit.

i've got no phone pre wiring so gather i need some code updating (can anyone tell me what this means? cost?)

i've seen people talking about dension products (500?) and a MB product. are these the essentially the same thing? are there any other alternatives i should consider?
do these all require pro fitting? can anyone give me approx fitted costs for these?

ever so gratefully

AK

First of all look in your glove box, is there an Auxilary connection probably on the right hand rear or front. If you have then you can conect your IPOD to that.

Mercedes IPOD kit is around £180 plus fitting.
Fitting should be no more than £50
I installed one in my wifes car, and it worked fine no coding needed. That doesnt mean they all dont need coding.
I believe that it does need coding to make your comand think there is a CD Changer in your car but in actual fact it is an IPOD. It sort of fools the car into thinking your IPOD is a CD changer.

As for the Dension, I'm sorry I dont know much about the price or fitting it.

Hope it helps, If I'm wrong on any of these points I'm sure somebody will correct me.

Alex.

thanks, there is already a cd changer magazine unit in the glove box. might this mean it's already 'coded' correctly?

Hi,

If you have the COMAND system, it's powered by the fibre optic MOST bus. mObridge are the only ones who provide connectivity between the iPod and COMAND via the MOST bus and give you full control of the iPod via the COMAND screen. You can hide the iPod away and have a completely transparent installation.

Cheers -

octane

thanks for this reply way back in feb.

may sound a stupid question but could i fit the new mobridge bluetooth product without having mb phone prewiring?

i figure the answer is yes but i wouldn't know a MOST bus from a minibus!

Also do higher octane supply the bluetooth product? is it any good?

grateful for any enlightenment you can provide
