Hi,

I'm new to these forums and I'm not sure if this topic has been done to death or not. I'm considering a 2 door MB and would appreciate your views on what is the best 2 door coupé, ie. reliability, best value for money, looks.

Regards,

Hi, £10k would be my max, age not important, good condition and not too high milage. I own a 1998 C180 which I will probably keep as my daily workhorse.
Thanks, Kenwood.

but then I would say that wouldn't I, as I both own one and am trying to sell it. It doesn't detract from its timeless appeal though.

'R129 last hand built mb' ... and I am not selling mine... lol.

but i think kenwood is looking for a coupe.

E320 coupe (or 300ce), and you get the build quality of w124. Superb car. Late ones have 5sp auto boxes and airbags, different grill/lights/mb badge on bonnet, and all of the bumper is colour coded.

C140 coupe - its a 90K car you can now easliy pick up for under 10K

r129 isnt a coupe - its a roadster - hence R 129 not C129.

Check this spec:-
4.2 V8
22mpg
12 way adjustable 3 way memory seats (leather) (front up/down, back up down, back angle, headrest height, seat base length, whole seat fwd/back)
self closing doors and boot.
self dipping rear mirror
folding mirrors
electric rear headrests
front and rear parking sensors
double glazing (yes) for extra quietness.
5 speed adaptive learning gearbox
memory wood / leather 2 way adjustable steering wheel. (up down in out)

finger light (literally) steering.
ABS
traction control (ESP)
4 air bags (steering wheel, glove box, door cards )
optional - rear self levelling suspension
also known as a SEC, S class coupe or CL420 / 500 / 600. Buy a post 1996 one with the side air bags.

If you want reliability it is perhaps best to avoid the larger, newer ones, since they have a lot of electronicals which could go wrong, maybey not now but in the future. I would go for a nice 320CE in a nice colour (like pink!) Only you can decide which one looks best in your eyes. I think the newest ones look wonderful! but they are beyond my reach......any of you guys want to buy me one for christmas???

I think that you would look just as silly in a pink dress as a 320c in pink.

Don't think mine has got the parking sensors - in fact 99% certain it hasn't - but then i get to see it for the first time on Thursday when i arrive back at heathrow.
