Hi All
I have recently fitted new Zenon White 433c H6W BAX9S Canbus LED Sidelight Bulbs to my W210 E320 CDI Avantgarde Estate, now have brilliant Sidelights and would like to match up the colour for my Headlights which look quite dull compared to the new Sidelights, my car is fitted with Zenon D2R 35watt HID Bulbs, can any one advise how I can match up my headlamp bulbs to give the same effect as my sidelights and should this be 400 or 600 as I dont want to damage the plastic Headlamp Lens.
Any advice would be very welcome
Thanks

You just need to by the appropriate colour xenons. If your sidelights are giving off a pure white light, then I would think about 6000k, so these may match

Zenon bulbs

Hi Toby

I got them from www.mylitco.com they were £9.99 for a pair of LED Canbus H6W Bulbs 24 hr delivery carriage free, they are normally £ 29.99 a pair, easy to fit and what a difference.
Best wishes Toby

I have 6000k xenons and they still are not the same colour as the led sidelights..
the led,s have a very blueish tint to them and think you would need around 8-10,000 k to match which would make your lights pretty poor...

The chances are you xenons are stock, which would put them around 4300k.
I had a dodgy one so i bought a pair of 6000k from ebay as they are brighter.
In fog or drizzle you will get more reflection back on yourself with 6000k but 5500-6000 is considered bright daylight and therefore the most light output.
Just been outside to look at mine again and its possible that the light intensity between the led and xenons is so different, giving an impression of different colour?
From 6000k a blue tint appears, changing to purple/violet up to 12000k but dont think that colour is really legal and will give less light output than halogens..
The intensity of the xenons in the dark outshine the leds anyway, merging both lights into one...
I personally dont worry about the colour difference as the led,s still look great when used as the "walk you home lights"

Zenon hid bulbs

Hi Rappey
Can you let me know which supplier you got the Zenons from as I heard that some manufactured in China and the Far East are not too good and can cause problems
Miffy has suggested some on Ebay which are good prices for a 600k pair of bulbs, has anyone had any experience with these please before I buy them.
And can anyone tell me what to look out for to prevent damage to my Plastic Lens as some do say " Suitable for Plastic Lens "
Many thanks

Xenon not zenon

Hi Nairac
Thanks for picking me up on my mis spelling of Xenon did'nt think it was a big issue must get a good Dictionary.
While I'm on the subject of XENON Bulbs do you know if the bulb which is now fitted in my car has any marking on it to say if it is 4300k or might be a different "K" Rating

Thanks Nairac
Best regards

Standard Xenons are 4300K.

Get them or 6000k on Ebay. Don't go higher because light output reduces as you go higher. I would stick with 4300Ks.

Xenons

Thanks Naraic
Just how much difference is there between the 4300k & 600k as in my previous thread I have just fitted Xenon White Canbus LED Bulbs to my Sidelights which are Bright White with a slight Blue effect and wonder if the 600k will compliment these better than my originals which are probably 4300k, I would preferably like them to look nearly the same as the new fitted Sidelight Bulbs
Anyones advice very welcome
Thanks again

I bought mine off ebay.. Probably the cheapest too.
philips and osram make oem xenons and cost around £80-£90 each, therefore would say all on ebay that are cheap are far east !
They apparently use less precious metals in the lamp, therefore not lasting as long but since they last up to 3 times longer than halogen a £20 pair should do fine...

i bought a set ages ago from the web, there are tons out there, depends if you want philips / OSRAM or some unbranded crud made in the far east which will / may not last long.... :)

I got a deal on some D2S lamps ( philips 4.3k jobbies for £85 the pair incl delivery & VAT ) :D

All I'd say, is don't be too worried about the 6k look, it's crap & don't light up the road as well as the 4.3k ( the key is how well the pick out items at a distance, which is where you notice it, most people who like 6k, probably don't look more than 20ft in-front of the car )

the higher the k value, past 5k, the LESS light you WILL get, FACT.

sure, the visible light spectrum is blue, but that's not much use, as the light output will be reduced ! :D

Xenon Bulbs

Thanks Taz
I hope no one minds me asking all of these questions regarding 4300k & 6000k as it does seem a bit of a minefield if you have never fitted Replacement HID Bulbs before and as always, the proof is in the Pudding if you will pardon the phrase.
If anyone else has anything else to add anything to this query, I will always be more than pleased to listen to their advice, I am also pretty sure that others who might be considering updated their Xenon Lights now that the Dark Evenings are here would like more views on this and it is always helpful to hear any personal view on this subject
Thank you all once again

What a lame comment.
I can certainly pick out more in front of my car in the dark than you suggest i can.
Maybe you need to compare the two before passing any judgement as im pretty positive you will not see a reduction but rather an enhancement.
5500-6000 k is classed as daylight and 6500 is overcast daylight.
It is also known that xenon light in the closest to daylight spectrum allows "better" judging of distance and easier to pick out objects(its the way our eyes work) contrary to what you appear to have read ?
4300k is not used because its the most light output but because its a compromise between illumination and reducing glare to the driver due to fog or drizzle.
Fog lights run at 3000k as this is the best light temp for penetrating fog.
Xenons for off road use are usually 5600k, why? because they give out the most effective light to see and judge distance!
