They do pull off just grab with both hands and pull and wiggle from either end ...bit fiddly is all
Thanks, all the other cars had plastic tubes with concertina bellows these woven ones are like concrete.
I was wondering wether one needed to tske the air filter section off to allow some free play. They wiggle so are not stuck, just wont come off.

Got Mobilo coming tomorrow to fit the main beam bulb, I cant make it lock in, so have a loose connected bulb.
Think I will watch to see if he takes these tubes off and how he does it. ;)

Just did a quick Pela suction of the Clk oil , probably took an hour with the new filter and a quick run round the block to check the level .

Yes they do.
Called Mobilo out, asked for and got an MB Trained technician.

Boy did he have to pull those tubes off, but they did eventually come free.
Personally rather him than me serious pressure applied.

He also fitted the replacement bulbs for me. And agreed they are the hardest "user fitable bulbs" on any Mercedes. He felt they should be a workshop item. Took him about 90 minutes and he had 15 years with MB.
So now I have Philips WhiteVison Main Beams. Intense White XenoN Effect .... my arse!

Talking about doors being slammed.. Its slamming the boot that bugs me. my boys get out of the car whilst I'm comfortably sitting in the drivers seat, they open the boot and get their kit out and then all of a sudden BANG!! I shudder with the noise..soooo annoying..

Should have bought an estate with comfort access, no slamming, just a fight over who gets to press the button

We stopped off in Ghent (Gent in Belgian) on the way back from Amsterdam earlier this year. A lovely place and well worth a visit but don't rely on SatNav unless it's bang up-to-date because they introduced a large pedestrian-only area earlier this year.

Well my MOT is due on 6th August so I have my car booked in for tomorrow for a thorough going over so if anything is required they can sort it prior to the actual MOT. I want them to go through the whole car and tell me what's needed for the MOT, what isn't but is a priority and what needs doing when time and funds allow. I have what I consider to be a fairly healthy budget but there again Mercedes have a good way of shrinking your expectations as to how far that will go!
In the meantime having endured a set of black mats in my car since the day I bought it I saw Carl at R129 had two new sets of blue mats listed so I grabbed a set while the going was good. Now I will no longer need to wince at the conflicting black mats when I open the door. :)

So that is going to turn out to be an expensive visit, I have a snapped front spring probably due to the state of our roads. Just a couple of inches off one end but still an MOT failure, obviously I'm replacing both with genuine MB ones. Brakes need new flexi hoses front and rear, new rear discs and pads, parking brake cable and both front headlamp wiper motors need to b replaced. I've decided to go with new wiper motors from MB as I intend keeping the car and at least they'll be guaranteed and hopefully last a few years rather than risk 2nd hand ones perhaps only lasting weeks/months. £465 the pair still made me wince though.
Not required for the MOT but as I hate seeing little weeps here and there both rocker cover gaskets are being replaced and the oil sensor seal, or the sensor if needs be, as it has a slight weep.
So my R129 is going to eat about another £1500 or so this year on top of the new roof, front wings. In the year I've owned I've replaced the 'drug dealer' wheels that were on it when I bought it with the correct Sador wheels. Replaced the soft top, front wings, re-installed a period Mercedes stereo and the correct colour genuine Mercedes over mats, new aerial oh and replaced the catalytic convertors with genuine MB ones.
I know people say if you have to worry about running costs you shouldn't buy the car in the first place and perhaps as my only car I shouldn't have bought it. But after all is said and done I love my R129 and I want it to be right so I just have to suck it up as they say but it's definitely getting to be a well sorted car. :)

Give MB Grangemouth a shout, their parts prices are excellent, if replacing the springs I would be tempted to do the shocks as well as the current ones are old
