Wasted 3 hours trying to get the main beam bulb badk in.

Usual Moronic Headlight design department ... must have been on legal highs at the time.
Access hole seriously offset, so far offset, that they have designed a bulb holder on a curved install arm/bracket.
You can just see the end of the lever in the middle on the right. IMG_3833.JPG (the curve just makes it even more difficult to assess whether the bulb is seated squarely)

The truly irritating thing is there is actually a lot more room directly behind the bulb hole. So if they put the access cap there it would be utterly simple.
Got to say this is the worst example of stupid engineering I have ever seen.

Anyone know how to remove these air intake hoses? ( might make more room to access the bulbs). The woven sections with the moulded plastic ends. ( I assume the ends stays on the woven part of the tubes?)
IMG_3560.JPG
I read its just a matter of pulling them off at each end. And possibly wiggling them as you do this.
Just checking there are no hidden catches, as I have pulled like hell, actually the car rocked ... and they won't budge.
Is there a knack to this? As they were removed very recently to change the air filter so they are not faulty.
Do you have to take off the rear cover with the air intake filters, I am hoping ome can just disconnect the tube at the front.?

Sod that given up!
5 hours trying to get that crapy bulb holder to snick in.
The access hole is designed to ensure every finger hold you can do, is blocked.
Just left it hanging there, and will phone Mobilo and let them sort it.
If Mercedes produce such sh@tty designs and state they are user changeable, in the manual; sod it they can pay to come out and screw it in!
Maybe if everyone did that, they would sack that cretin who designed this headlamp unit, and get someone with a brain to design the access holes in front of the ****** bulbs.
If he walked onto our patio right now ... I would give him a serious smack.
:(:(
I've changed bulbs in A Class, E Class, S Class And SLs this one takes the biscuit!
Maybe if you have done it a few times and or seen the headlamp unit out it might be easy the second time around. But ... that designer must be a f**cking gastearbeiter!

Going to have a serious drink!

While some things are quite cleverly done, there are a hell of a lot that convince you the designers have got absolutely no idea how things actually work. They used to say that to work on a fifties vintage British car, you had to be 6 inches tall with the strength of Hercules - now, to work on any car you have to be 10cms tall, have the brains of Stephen Hawkings and twice the strength of Hercules. Do any of the "designers" actually work on a car? How about the chairman of the manufacturer actually drive and maintain his own car for twelve months without access to specialist tradies? Then we might see an improvement!

I booked one of these when we were driving from LV to LA , i had the romantic notion of driving along the freeway with the wind in our hair with Steppenwolf blasting from the speakers.

Then i realized one morning whilst lying in bed that there was no way that four adults , four big cases and four hand luggage bags would fit in a Mustang so a quick call to the travel agents saw it swapped for a Ford Explorer :(

Young guy at work has a new Mustang V8 - its actually not a bad car. Trims a bit 'Ford' but other than that its actually pretty good.

Had 2 rear punctures repaired, another screw in passenger side and what looked like a massive staple in the drivers side

Yeah sometimes reality creeps in Kenny! I am on my own with a pathetically small case so I should be fine... ( I have some stuff out there if I ever get stuck!)

Nothing much lately - but it did pass its MOT the other day with no issues.

Well my MOT is due on 6th August so I have my car booked in for tomorrow for a thorough going over so if anything is required they can sort it prior to the actual MOT. I want them to go through the whole car and tell me what's needed for the MOT, what isn't but is a priority and what needs doing when time and funds allow. I have what I consider to be a fairly healthy budget but there again Mercedes have a good way of shrinking your expectations as to how far that will go!
In the meantime having endured a set of black mats in my car since the day I bought it I saw Carl at R129 had two new sets of blue mats listed so I grabbed a set while the going was good. Now I will no longer need to wince at the conflicting black mats when I open the door. :)

Drove back 300 miles from Sunny Wales , to not so sunny Essex . Thought I'd give the E320 an oil change so plumped for the 20L of MB 229.51 from eBay for £52 and an MB oil filter as well for another £11 , all from Merc Newcastle eBay . Little job for next week along with a front wheel bearing adjustment which I will have to hit YouTube before doing it . Saw the odometer click over to 80,000 miles on the way back so should nearly be run in .
