I did the unthinkable and took mine to the all American hand car wash at lunchtime for that very reason- the Sahara seems to have gone for now. First non ‘me’ or ‘detailer’ car wash since I got it, but needs must as I’ve visitors tomorrow and the car needed to be clean in/out
Always take mine to one of two Eastern European hand car washes. It's a daily drive and I don't have time or the inclination to wash it myself.
Always looks good afterwards but I don't look too deeply into the paint :D

Had two black cars. Would you believe before I bought them or rather when I brought them home they looked great...
This is my third Obsidian Black, you’d think I’d learn by now wouldnt you?

Been ill for the last week or so after damaging my shoulder putting up a car port in the wind. Rotator cuff apparently which is a group of muscles in my shoulder. Anyway, the pills seemed to have done the job and I've done loads of resting over the last few days so decided that it was time for a wheels off clean up on the E Class, including painting the hubs before they started to rust.

Too late for that, rust already present, so a quick rub down and paint up just as a preventative measure was done till my arm decides to work properly again. Decided that 20" wheels are too heavy to be lifting about in my current state, though at least I've got them done now. Off to rest again for the next couple of days. :)

Glad to see you’re up and around Dave! Was wondering where you’d gotten to!

Rotator cuff injuries typically take six months to fully heal with the first 4-6 weeks requiring rest, do some simple flexing to aid blood flow to the site to aid healing, but don’t stress the affected area!
Lifting wheels is not a good idea, so soon!
Classic tennis/cricket and plasterers injury often career threatening, even with surgery.

Just take it easy for a month or so.

Some never heal correctly - I damaged mine in 2002 and it still causes grief now. I find it almost impossible to throw a ball for example.
Hopefully yours will heal properly Dave. Just take it very easy as it can stay with you forever if you aren't careful.

I went to do gt the 129 aligned a while back - its wearing the outside edge of the right front wheel badly and the steering wheel is slightly off to one side. Everything underneath is seized solid. Looks like I need to replace all the steering arms/linkages. Oh well... something to stop me being bored!
benz owners cant get bored !!

Yep... its a continual round of repairs at times! Right side bottom arm changed, both tie rods, new top mounts to go on when I'm back from France next week, new drag link to go on at the same time and new left bottom arm as well. Changed all the sway bar rubbers as well. New springs were fitted last year so all thats left is the struts themselves!

Was still reliable and on the button every time and had 9 months left on mot. Used it on ford scrappage scheme for my new Kuga.
The engine was getting a bit endy.

Sorry to hear the SL retired. No more bending down to get into the Kuga then! Sold my MK1 4wd Kuga 2.0ltr diesel and with the money purchase the CL

We might very well be taking ours! The transmission limp mode on the 211 has returned intermittently, so I have a judgement call to make...
