E8 on my E class when I did the cps last week . (Torx)Am having difficulty identifying the bolt holding in the cps.
It is not an E8 nor E10 torx.
Managed to get to it fairly easily and have a print on some blue tack and a photo.
Any help would be appreciated. View attachment 53444 View attachment 53443

Security screws are often 5 sided. The ones holding the gear selector on a Smart are because it holds the ignition switch in.WOT a surprise !not.
Pretty sure it's an E8. Try a gentle tap to assist it on.
If it stops raining I'll check the 210 - easy to get to on that as it's only a V6 and no go fast gubbins on top.
don't use the worn out bolt to refit the CPS, go get one, local dealer should have in stock.
on mine the multiplug crumbled in my hand taking it off, quite easy to get one from the dealer its called a "pin bush housing" (which is the name most manu call the plastic multiplug) and on Merc and BMW you can easily by all the plugs
That bolt looks really shapeless , do you reckon it has been stripped a bit in the past . The old bolt I re used when I replaced my cps last week looked as good as newJust an update really. No further on with removing this bolt.
A 6mm socket just about grips it but it slipped when I tried to loosen it. I have tried my selection of sockets, hex bits, tried to tap the socket onto the bolt to grip it further but all to no avail. Still open to suggestions but View attachment 53496 not wanting to damage the bolt and make it really difficult for someone.
Shame really as it should have been an easy job for me, on the bright side, have given the engine bay a bit of a clean, replaced the air and pollen filters.
Thank you
