More investigation into the 215s water leak , hose pipe on it with me inside the boot , not a drop of water to be seen , soooo i think the water must have been in there when i got the car and likely due to the misaligned boot lid

I had this too on purchase of mine. Also when I discovered that if one opens the boot lid too quickly after a rainy night or a dewey morning, around 700 gallons of nicely beaded water will pour into the boot gutter and neatly overflow it in the centre.

When I let the lid rise up on its own spring tension... perfect, the water neatly poured into the lip gutter. It was when I wrenched it straight up it soaked the boot. My own fault.

Same with an R171 if you’re too quick at lifting the boot... the boot separator does a decent job of keeping it off your stuff and down the sides into the electronics...

Managed to change thermostat on my W210 E240,surprisingly easy, and for once it went smoothly for me.Drained about one gallon of anti freeze first, unhooked the serpentine belt and the water hose, only 2 bolts hold it in place, and put the new rubber seal and new thermostat in.If only all my DIYs were as easy as this...

Oh yes. And not just MB, I’ve seen it first hand. Apparently it is that difficult to keep water out of the damn things.

My Fix Or Repair Daily... leaked like a sieve. Rubbish sunroof drains which lead to quite a lot of rust....
