Well I'm still here in lovely Poland, driving back other day I was unlucky enough to hit a big pothole at 30mph, O/S/F wheel made a massive bang!! Oh bugger I thought! Seemed OK at first then I could feel vibrations through the steering so all not well really?
Got local garage to check and he said it all good mechanically but rim is out of shape, not surprised at how deep hole was! He told me of specialist in nearby town.he put my spare tyre on and insisted in taking no payment! What a nice fella!
Took beast to wheel specialist this morning and they spent a few hours sorting bent rim out and checked tyre too, balanced it and put it back on the beast, ....all for?.........wait for it!!! £20!! Yep that's right 20 smackers! Great bunch of guys too, back in UK il prob pay between £50 to £70 just goes to show the difference in what we pay in UK
Beast is now all OK and driving superb as always, heading back through Germany Saturday then ferry in Holland on Sunday afternoon, been a wonderful holiday and the beast has been a pleasure to drive , I've estimated il have spent about £700 in fuel on whole trip compared to £500 three years ago so I'm on point in budget for it ?
Funnily enough the guy I use to straighten rims is also Polish. Quick, friendly, knowledge and cheap.

They were short staffed there, when we told them we driving back to England in couple days time they jumped on it straight away, none of the sucking air through teeth going " sorry mate no can do" the boss even gave us some home grown veg he bought into work for his guys, honestly when I get my car worked on over here like I did three years ago the difference in attitude and price is staggering!! Such a pleasure to do business with

A wee package in the step when I arrived home, clips for the rattly airbox and a replacement radiator top mount.

I decided a squirt of Plus Gas on the injectors and bolts over the next few days would be prudent before the leaky injector gets any worse. Fitted the clips and radiator mount then started it up to see if the airbox is any quieter. God's teeth, Plus Gas everywhere, that injector is chuffing chuffing! o_O

Target for tonight: injector seals, leak off O rings, bolts and perhaps clamps but don't see the need to replace those unless anyone knows better. I did look at long Torx 3/8" drive sets and injector pullers on Ebay, then the damned Snap-On man had them laid out ready for me! Passed on the puller, I have a lathe and mill but he raped me for the Torx bits.

I will also order some stainless button head bolts for the additional Steibel Truck horn I fitted a while back, turn up some proper spacers then give it a shotblast and lick of blick.

Loving the Bilstein B6 rears more each day, the trip to work is so much nicer. Come on Autodoc, where are my front shocks?!!

Started up the SL after sitting for a long period and a quick drive down the drive and on return to the garage was greeted with green fluid directly under where the valve block sits
She is now up on axle stands ready to attack the valve block seals. I might have to pay a certain local CL500 forum member a visit shortly as we all know he has tackled this job :)

I feel your pain !! Two valve blocks replaced with re-furbs this Jan after ours suffered with standing still during COVID lockdowns, you could not exactly class taking the SL out in the sun during lockdown as a necessary journey. After seeing what Doris and his Toff's were up to I wish I had, a £60 fine would have been much more welcome than a knackered ABC system, Guess it might have tarnished my DBS though. Hope the seal kit works, I bought one first, unfortunately I don't have the room in garage to perform such surgery so handed to local specialist who reported that it didn't solve my issues.

New rear battery ordered, after 8 years of plugging the umbilical C-tek in after every drive.

One year on from purchase and time for new oil... basic OM642 preservation. A vac extractor and oil filter tool make this as easy as an oil change could ever be. Clean and no fuss.

It's been a good car this, but being neglected now, so I guess it's poetic justice. The seals I have were bought for the first SL500 but never did the valve seals as we never had a suspension drop, only raised itself on the off side rear everytime you switched off. You would be refuelling and the off side would raise to nearly full height but once started again would drop to normal ride level
Hope these seals will be ok?

He paid Welwyn Merx to tackle it when he was off on a jolly in Barcelona!

The Bilstein fronts arrived today, set to at work this evening and the old ones were out in 20 minutes. (Not that I was keen!) Slight problem on reassembly, both new dampers have their spring perches missing so the old ones went back on. Looks like I will be on the lathe this weekend.

Taken the CLS in for the MOT and A7 service. First time outside a main dealer service
Wish me luck
