Buy another will be the answer (according to the manufacturer…) although exactly what happens to the old one is still to be decided… ship them offshore for “recycling “ outside our environment… is the most likely outcomeGood point. I suppose the answer would be buy another " fuel tank " but at what price and there could well be a shortage.

As to electric vehicles unless we go down the full nuclear or shale gas extraction rout. where's all the electricity going to come from. Because it's not just cars, it's trucks/busses/railway locomotives/ships, basically every form of transport that will have to green. Maybe the hydrogen cell tech of which I know nothing about might be the answer..

Emissions of "harmfull" gases like Nox etc have been and are reducing all the time (except as cars get older and emission systems fail) but CO2 is a constant unfortunately. Burn fuel=produce CO2. Carbon capture is only alternative and cars will never do that.Thinking about this, we could all (governments included) be missing something. Internal combustion engines are getting cleaner and cleaner. So in the future in my opinion we might not be contributing as much if any co2 or what ever comes out of our tail pipes as some people predict.

If it wasn't about the money, the congestion zones would be a no-go area for high emissions (at point of use) vehicles.Then they need to be serious about it, not use it as just another money making excuse.

For some reason the Government don't recognise any of those you mention as a major contributor to pollution. Obviously Aircraft is going to be the tricky one to electrify and so are ships. I live not far from the harbour in this town and you should see the crap they dump into the atmosphere when they start up. We often see them firing up and emitting thick black smoke into the air. A lot of it doesn't go up, if falls to the ground and the Harbour waters.Don't forget guys, if we want to cut emissions to zero it's not only cars / trucks / busses , it's aircraft / railway locomotives / building site equipment eg dump trucks / earth moving vehicles, the list goes on. How on earth are we going to produce the electricity. Please don't anyone go on about Hydrogen cells etc as it will take years to perfect it and we haven't got the time, as our government has stated there will be no more ICE's manufactured after 2030 in this country, although I think that might change somewhat in the near future. As they say watch this space.

Apart from the shear volume of cars in comparison to anything you have mentioned they are the cleanest by a country mile. I for one will not have an EV in my life time. We are moving to a top floor Apartment in Norwich city centre and I don't think anybody manufactures extension cables long enough
