Just back from looking at another Tesla Model 3 Performance, purely to look at the White interior, which is stunning. So the hunt is on (Sorry, Russ.) So must be White with White interior, up to 35 grand,
and up to 25,000 miles, preferably no more than Two owners and goes without saying, must be mint. There must be one out there somewhere. :)
Pic of the White interior.:)

I’m struggling to see the logic in all this:

Spend £34k on an E43 with circa 20k miles on it and the engine is good for 20 years+

Spend £34k on a Tesla and in 10years time the battery pack needs replacing at a cost of £20k

Or am I missing something…

How do you know ? I have a 20 year old Mercedes Lead Acid 35Ah 12V Varta SL55 starter battery still accepts charge. OK it's not as sprightly as it once was, but it still works.

Battery technology has come on since the 1970s.

My 2003 deWalt drill and my Dremel from a similar vintage also hold charge fine.

OK they are not EV batteries, but modern batteriesI should last longer than 10 years.

EV batteries will only last 3 years.

Then they did
Then they lasted 5 years

EV batteries will only last 7 years.

Then they did
Then they lasted 9 years

EV batteries will only last 10 years

Then they do
And they're still at 90% capacity.....

Battery tech, including charging software controls are always improving.

That's not the problem with EVs at the moment.

Have you got an Insurance quote for the Tesla though, just for awareness?

I think being older helps in this case anyway.

54 years old and £750 to insure the shopping trolley parked on the driveway!!! OK, I'm a "few" years older and in a quiet cul-de-sac, but our S204 on the driveway and SLK garaged cost combined far less than that!! Yet another reason EV even PHEV is not for us.

As it currently stands electric is the acceptable one for the future.
The big gas guzzlers will be next on the hit list for punitive charges.
Going through London last week in a variety of Ubers the ubiquitous Prius was the most common thing to arrive.
Many commented on the battery charging issues as a big turn off for all electric.

Some very interesting facts are coming out especially regarding insurance costs it seems insurers are waking up to the fact that EVs can self combust either from the battery overheating or sustaining damage. It seems to me that fast charging with DC is the enemy of lithium ion batteries and degrades due to the excess heat involved so be aware if you buy - and of course don’t go though a Ford

Also insurance companies keen to make a profit and EV’s being the latest trend mean higher premiums

We all know how business works companies involved in installing charging points are going to want to recoup their investment within 5 years hence the extortionate charging costs at some facilities

It annoys the hell out of me that I’m paying 53ppd for my electricity standing charge, was 27ppd 2 years ago. This is allegedly to pay for infrastructure upgrades… perhaps they could have made a few billions less in profit and invested in upgrades previously.

Water companies exactly the same

As we know insurance goes off the value of the car, my 2014 e350 was 500 to insure but valued at 17k so a big difference in value.
