Hi all, I currently have an auto C200 W202 1998 and aim to replace it next month with a later model (2002)
How reliable are they? I have heard many stories about the auto gearboxes and various other issues relating to the electrics etc.
My current car has 170,000 miles on it and I have had very little trouble with it.

Hi ionod55555

I have a 2000 c230k w202 and the only electrical problem I have had was a dead battery. Fortunately I was at home and was able to start the car and drive it to my indie where a new battery was fitted. Technically it was a breakdown but not a recovery situation.

The gearbox never misses a beat.

I am the vehicle's second owner but I have the full service history. Apart from the battery, nothing in the electrical, engine or transmission system has broken or proven unreliable thereby requiring replacement in its 8-year life. Sure, parts wear out and need replacement, but nothing out of the ordinary has happened.

It is now approaching 120,000 miles.

REGARDS

Phil
