There seems to be a lot of confusion going on here, especially on what was a bodywork rust thread! It has to be said Partsman that MB certainly CAN'T carry out worth while R&D on their own paint finishes and anti corrosion treatments as borne out by the horror stories of this very forum.
That a supposedly quality mainstream high volume German vehicle manufacturer CANNOT successfully reproduce an acceptable cosmetic vehicle finish that lasts a minimum of 8 years, is pathetic. More so when the rest of the industry at the buy/throw-away end of the market [ Ford] are doing exactly that.
Perhaps MB should start to recruit their senior production, body pressing, construction and corrosion prevention engineeers from Ford?
Braking components are always brought in parts, no vehicle manufacturer has a facility to make their own................simply uneconomic.
Fake, counterfeit vehicle components purport to be something they're definitely not and that is 'fit for the purpose intended', as your link shows. This is dangerous to the user and criminal activity by the perpetrator's. This is a million miles away from visiting a reputable motor factor and purchasing either OEM quality components, or genuine pattern parts at a cost saving.
As a engineer of fourty years standing I've spent a fair few years at work doing exactly this; avoiding the OEM's large price mark up on spares for inservice support. That a large government organisation spent years pursuing this policy should bear witness to the cost savings to be made and thus its validity!
What's the difference Partsman between a MB, BMW or Jaguar built in the same year, for the EU market , of similar weight, power and a very similar braking requirement? Market forces mean that all three vehicles will of necessity have very similar stopping distances..........thus very similar IF NOT INDENTICAL Friction material!
I think you've been brainwashed by the organisation you purport to work for!
