the only real disadvantages will be increased NOx emissions at certain engine speeds/loads. also it is possible that increased exhaust gas temperatures may cause increased wear and tear on eg turbochargers over time, the jury is out on this second point.

because the exhaust gas temperature to increase?

Even that is debatable given that NOX is a local pollutant and EGR reduces engine efficiency so more CO2 is produced.

quote

is not really proven that diesel engines pollute as they want us to believe.
I think the changes for approval (3-4-5 euro, etc.) are very much to sell more cars.
Furthermore, in the last 4-5 euro cars with FAP are drastically reduced oil change intervals, especially if you use the car in the city.
's used oil that makes the end?

ok

Regards to all ...

I mounted the circuit last night, and everything seems to work for the best. :p:p:p:p:p

assembly was performed as indicated by diesel as on page 1, I made a small circuit with a matrix board two resistors 1 W - 470 W 1ohm and a 1N4004 diode.

of the cables' installation if the original link are:

12V red-black 37-pin conn 3
EGR gray black 50 pin conn 3
MAF white yellow pin 25 Conn. 2

my car is a e270 cdi 2002. w210

unexpectedly on my harness, the wires gnawed black black and gray are woven together which greatly simplifies the processing.

thanks dieselman !!!!!!!!!!

I have another question ... dieselman
if I wanted to run the 'egr so low (say 15%) which of the two resistors should I change?

How would you get the EGR to operate at a lower threshold?

Without reprogramming the ECU, how would you achieve 5% EGR?

Why would you want to do this?

Simplified Plug n Play Diagram for ML 270 CDi pre 2003

Basically just took all the info posted thus far and pasted it onto the picture taken by termari from his post here

http://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/showpost.php?p=566926&postcount=203

Made it all a lot easier for me:

1) 1 connector pair for the egr transducer wires from the ecu as shown in the picture for "stock wiring"

2) 1 connector for the "egr off "circuit: 1 wire goes to the MAF as shown

3) Wire the middle "jumper" connector as shown below

4) Enjoy

Will this modification cause a problem when you have to undergo an emission test for MOT?

So I did the mod yesterday to my 01 ML, will add pictures later if I can. looked at the live readings on a diagnostic scanner which showed the EGR values as well as the MAF both of which were changing. I was under the assumption the egr value shouldn't change? Although it seems to drop back to 3.

Is this normal and expected?

Not sure what you mean. Was the EGR valve still connected?
