Oh yer, forgot about that, still on the cards then ;)
Maybe, but I may have found a cost effective way to do it...
Fit a towbar to the 210 and 129 (it's rated to tow 1500kg believe it or not!) , buy a car trailer on eBay, take 210 over this trip, bring 129 back, take 129 back with trailer after MOT, bring 210 back with Smart on trailer, sell trailer.

Might even be able to borrow car trailer from a mate nearby.

Just don't sell matey's car trailer
I did a similar thing when I bought a car, had no way of collecting it so quickly bought a car trailer off ebay and went and got it, trilered the new car home, sold the new purchase after 6 months and kept the trailer

Why not just register the 129 in France and only have to worry about the CT every 2 years?

Because it then becomes illegal for me to drive it in the UK if I want to bring it back.
You can't drive a foreign registered car in the UK on a UK licence.
I did think of that...

Oh that's her going to work and back, it was much better than that, I had to charge the battery 500 miles ago so it reset  it was at 32 before this :p
Only used to get 32mpg between services in our old 200K.

Took the car out of the garage so I could get the FJR1300 out. Then went on a 120 mile ride, most enjoyable.

Hearing Alastair talikg about a trip to France in the not too distant is encouraging as my wine stock is depleting and a trip to Calais/Ardres will be required - still have about a month or so of stock, but even if France lift restrictions there's still the threat of 14 day quarantine both ways so a day trip to stock up is not yet feasible - DAMN!!

Here's an idea. Fit a tow bar to the 210. Buy the trailer in France whilst you are over there - maybe picking it up en-route. They might be cheaper over there? Leave trailer with the 210 in France. Come back with the R129 and get MOT etc., Forget fitting the towbar to the R129, you don't need it.. Take R129 back to France and come back in 210 with the smart on the trailer. Sell trailer in the UK. This way you save the cost of the 129 towbar and if you pick up the trailer in France then the Ferry trips will be cheaper over all... Only works if French trailer prices are cheaper I suppose....

Other than wine and oysters, very little is cheaper in France!

Trip to Henley in Arden outskirts visiting the better halves sister for lunch - maintaining 2m distancing. Naturally, it was outside only but as her place overlooks the river, who would be indoors..

MPG there and back was interesting. its 10 mile mixed roads 30 - 50 mph limits and 26 mile of M42. Going there averaged 52.2mpg. I forgot to shut the seperator as usual so the first 29 miles was Top Up and the last 7 miles top down. Coming back we averaged 49.5mpg which was top down all the way. If anything, coming back was a little more spirited so I was surprised at how little difference the top up /down had on fuel consumption (and technically, it's uphill coming back..) I was also surprised at how clear the M42 was both ways (came back 5.00pm) with no smart speed limits set which is unheard of.. Pic is the journey back..
