Nothing much exciting: dropped it off at MB Northampton for a D service tomorrow (sparks, brake fluid, all filters), got a C200 estate 59-reg as a courtesy car, seriously disliked just about everything about it, particularly psychotic brakes and 201 buttons and controls on the steering wheel ... thankfully I'll get my car back tomorrow, so only 14 miles more to drive in this thing ...

Old dog, new tricks
Err..m that's 69-reg, actually - very old dog o_O

Put the new cover over it (looks OK at the price hopefully lasts the 30 months of the guarantee) and retired to the deeper shade, hitting over 30C today. WP_20200602_002.jpg

A cover is on my list for the 129.
It gets very dusty in the barn.

This is the one I got on ebay seems to be made in Poland, strong shiny outside and a little bit of protection on the inside but has a great draw string right around the bottom and a little packet to but the string inside at the back. Maybe a bit of overkill for just inside.
I've had enough covers to know that they last about 18 months outside here so not really expecting any difference. Let's see.

I have been looking at car covers for my SL and found a site offering 10 year warranty on an standard outside cover. The premium cover has a lifetime warranty.

It, of course depends on the price, I've looked at some excellent covers which cost as much as my car:( or even the cost of putting up a garage:D.
Beginning to think which will last longer the car, the cover or me;).

An old B-Class.
Nothing special, roof down and a 2 hour run on country roads. I was surprised at how many boy racers were out and about being stupid. Out of built-up areas, I tend to drive just over the speed limit and got passed by several.

I had a caravan that I kept covered but found that I had to air it regularly to prevent mould growing on the inside. However this was in Australia (Brisbane), very hot and humid so it might not be an issue here!

Had service "D" done by Mercedes Northampton today - B plus 2; 4; 6; 8 & 12 services ... basically, all apart from ATF and coolant.

Couldn't wait to give back their 2019 C200 station wagon :p courtesy car.

The service was great, and I got a video of a reasonably thorough inspection.

Got the bucket and wash mitts out and gave the SLK a bath, straight after lunch herself's asking about how much water and what shampoo to use, and for the first time in living memory washed her car (the S204). Mind you, by the time she'd rinsed and dried it having not used anywhere near enough water while washing, large areas no longer looked washed and needed re-doing - by guess who! Would probably have been easier (and less earache) to do it myself in the first place! Roll on the re-opening of the local hand wash place I've used for the past few years. Also got a thin coat of wax (Megs NXT) on the bonnet and roof that were resprayed at the end of Feb, had to wait for 5pm to do that as earlier in the day the bodywork on the car was so hot I almost scalded my arm on the bonnet - ouch!

Booked the 210 to go to France.
Fingers crossed.
Booked the 129 to come back :)

Much better idea Alistair than what it would have cost for me to do the trip, but sadly no free holiday for us in France :(
