ml320 starting problem

Car was driving fine on Friday. Saturday morning engine started but then cut out immediately. Tried again same thing. Tried again and attempted to rev engine, no revs and the engine cut out. Any pointers to the problem would be great - Fuel Filter / lines to filter blocked? Faulty ignition key...
