ML320 2005 w164 - engine starts but cuts out after 1 or 2 seconds

Car was driving fine on Friday. Saturday morning engine started but then cut out immediately. Tried again same thing. Tried again and attempted to rev engine, no revs and the engine cut out.

Any pointers to the problem would be great - Fuel Filter / lines to filter blocked? Faulty ignition key sensor? Immobiliser?

I would suspect fuel,
but really you're better taking it to an Merc Specialist to have the codes read.
It would likely be cheaper and faster than guessing.

sounds like a vac leak.
But as said, guessing is how long is a piece of strong = how much money do you have to throw away.

Get the codes read and diagnosed by a good indy.

No it doesn't rev - just cuts out

Did he try to read the stored codes.....

He didn't Matt. The car started everyday since then apart form this morning. Booked it in to a local garage.

It would be cheaper for everyone to get a code reader (I gave a HumzorPro) as you can use it in the future. It cost less than check it in garage
