Hi

A mate of mine has a 2001 Automatic C270cdi and he has been experiencing problems starting his car.

When he goes to start the car it starts but it switches off and then does not start for 20-30 minutes.
However if he starts it with while giving it gas/accelerator pedal depressed it starts fine and runs fine.
The problem only occurs when starting the car for the first time. After which it is fine for the rest of the days. It doesn’t matter when you start it, early morning or afternoon the problem still occurs. So whenever he starts it for the first time he has to start it while giving it gas.

Hope it makes sence

If any of you knowledgeable guy could give us some advice it would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Are the Glowplugs working?
Are there any air bubbles in the fuel lines?

Glow plug seem to be working.

You would need to check the fuel lines, which will most likely involve taking off the plastic engine cover.

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THE DIESEL PUMP WAS LEAKING. IT START SOMETIMES EASY AND THEN SOMETIMES AFTER ABOUT 10MIN. DO YOU SMELL DIESEL SOMETIMES. WHAT HAPPENS IS THAT THE PUMP LOSES PRESURE, THATS WHY IT STARTS ATVENTUALY WHEN YOU STEP ON THE PEDAL TO GET IT GOING.
