        I'm in the market for a type 107 sl or slc, I have noticed that the older ones (up to 1981)come with the 280 engine while the newer ones (up to 1989) come with a 300 engine. I would like to spend a maximum of £14 000 for a six cylinder model, mileage is not a factor, once it have fMBsh, can anyone tell me what things I should look for when I go to view possible buys? (where does rust normally develop etc etc)
Also do they come with climate control?

There have been a few recent posts on what to look for with SLs - also some thoughts on price. I suggest you also look at the June Mercedes Enthusiast which came out the other day.

£14k should get you a very good late 300SL - 86-89 if you look around.

         I have decided to put off buying the SL for another year or so, thanks for the offer for the help. I just might take you up on your offer sometime. Your 300SL sounds very tempting! If it's still around next year I may look you up.
