116.981 v8 3.5l conversion to carbs ?

anyone ever copnverted a 116.981 engine from the Bosch d injection to Carbs, or know of a std merc model that had carbs on teh 3.5l v8 116 engine ? :?

why?

d jet is generally very reliable - but any huuuge big yank carb would fit with a bit of ingenuity on a d jet manifold i guess...

the car has been looked at by 2 or 3 mechanics (idling roughly, missing, cutting out, etc), but had no luck in sorting the issue - they reckon it was the injection system.
No one in East Yorks wants to sort it, so it's either rip out the injection system, or get someone who knows the system to sort it. Problem is there seems no one in Yorks who knows anythong about them. (that I have come across)

I'd rather have the car on the road to enjoy, rather than having to drive my diesel estate all the time ...

You can fit aftermarket throttle bodies instead such as Lumenition items.They're expensive but use a lot less fuel than your car's injection system or a big carb.

ok - these are 4 cylinder ones - but the v8 is just 2 4's
