Would appreciate advice as I have removed a halfshaft/axleshaft for inspection as the car was producing a grumbling sound when going around a bend.

Appears the gaiter clip on the inner joint had broken and it has emptied of grease, for how long I dont know, should I just re pack it and put it back or is it likely to have become permanently damaged due to its un lubricated state?
I have pulled back the gaiter and there appears to be nothing untoward except for it being v dry!

Thanks, bad news better than no news, I think..!
Are the joints replaceable or should I take a trip to the breakers for a complete shaft?

Same thing happened to mine a few years ago. She locked up something awful when hot. Put a replacement gaitor on and packed it with grease as a quick fix that worked ok but you could still here a very slight vibration. Took her off the road later in the year so cant comment on how long it would have lasted. Scrappy sounds good to me.
