124 Auto Gearbox lever locks?

I have a 1995 280E auto, occasionally the gearlever won't move out of Park -footbrake is pressed in as required. If you wiggle it about eventually it moves and all is well.

Other times its fine - no problem...

I assume there is a switch between the brake system and the gearbox shifter that's faulty?

Any suggestions would be most welcome.......

There is a gearbox pawl that someone once told me about, might be worth doing a search for this.
