I'velooked at buying a 190 2.5D auto with 120000 miles recorded and the original gearbox.The auto box works OK and the fluid on the dipstick looks clean.
What sort of life can I expect from the gearbox ?

providing you have a full service history with regular autogear box oil and filter changes, then my opinion is that the gearboxes do last for a long time-may 250k miles.
