I have recently bought a 190D since i changed the oil the oil pressure gauge is all over the place. Sometimes its a 3 for an entire drive, then next time I'm driving its at 1.  The engine seems sound and I was wondering if was the  oil pressure switch thats had it? Anybody any ideas.

Thanks Rich.

Hi Richard,

Just before you get delving in the deep end. Try removing the filter & run the engine again. Sometimes on these older vehicles, people do not change the oil as regular as they should.(Infact diesels usually get the most abuse as they show no signs of deteriation till its too late). If this resolves the problem there may be a lot of silt\sludge is the sump which is being picked up occasionaly. Then have a look a the filter and check if there is any signs of gritty substance in the fins of the filter.

Good luck
