i have had a few problems with tranny oil leaking heavily from my gearbox. i noticed the leak was from the main oil seal in the gearbox. Itook it out and replaced it with the proper replacement seal. I put it all together, but she still leaks. I was advised that when topping the tranny fluid up, it will take about 4 1/2 litres. is it common to happen that if i put too much oil in, that it will push the seal out again? your help will be apprieciated in this matter. markwill

Not an answer to your problem, but just checked the fluid level on my 190e.
the fluid seems to be colourless , after being changed 30000 ago would it not be showing some discolouration?

I think you'll find it is really a pale red/pink colour and I'd consider your observation to be good news.

i had a 190E with a bad leak that turned out to be the O-ring seal where the fluid filler/dipstick enters the gearbox casing; apparently a common fault on that transmission, especially at high-ish miles ... hope this helps
