190E suffering from a sudden fault, happened whilst happily chugging along.
engine died, would not start.

no fuel getting to injectors, though fuel pressure at inpput and return of the uel distributor.

plugs are dry, not enough fuel getting to engine, if any.

the fuel distributor has two parts, mechanical distribution to each four injectors, I assume the is a diaphram or something inside, I dont know.

it also has some electro-hydraulic actuator on the side, I assume this take timing impulse from the ignition, and allows fuel through to the distributor.

so I'm facing three possible faults, I think;-

1 - faulty mechanical distributor - how do I check this?
2 - faulty electro-hydraulic actuator, how do I check this?
3 - wrong or missing pulses from ignition timing - guess I need a timing light to check this.

thanks in advance, and to those who helped me eliminate the fuel pump.

Hi your fault could be related to the overvoltage protection relay if it has to be the problem with the electro-hydraulic actuator.
To check the fuel distributor remove all the injector pipes and on the ignition or get the fuel pump to run for 30 secound and inspect the distributor ports where the pipe connect that fuel is not flowing out. ( no fuel should come out of the fuel distributor.) if fuel flows out that fuel distributor is faulty.
To check for wrong or missing pulses from the timming you cannot use the timming light until the vehicle is started.
Hope this hepls.

Hi guys,

My fuel distributor is leaking and I can see the fuel leaking down inside the air flow meter when I press down on metering plate and look inside. How will i fix this kind of problem? should i look for a new fuel distributor? or just seal the leakage?

Just fit new gaskets.

do you mean strip down the head and fit the diaphragm and o-rings? surely these then need very careful setting up on bench test? the k/ke-jetronic metering head unit is a very sensitive device and hard to work on, i would suggest a good secondhand unit.

The poster was talking about an external fuel leak, which is probably from the head of the unit. That is likely to be just a gasket and won't require any adjustments checking.

the leak that clarkperez2334 describes is coming from the central 'pin' in the metering head unit, there is no way to easily tackle this leak without stripping down the unit - not really a DIY job. from memory this part does not actually have a seal, and relies on precision machining to minimise fuel loss, hence its location where any fuel leaking out will be drawn into the engine through the intake manifold.
