190e sump removal

Hi
I have an oil leak on my 1990 190e auto that appear to be coming from the sump gasket. When I checked under the car, a piece of the gasket was actually hanging out of the corner of the sump seal and the bolt was slack. I have had the car for 18 months now and the leak was just an annoyance that I have now decided to sort. However, I thought it would be a doddle until reading my Haynes manual. Anybody any experience of this? And why do Euro Car Parts want £25 for a sump gasket kit?
TIA

Sump removal is NOT a doddle, as you need to lift the engine having unhooked things like the steering drag link and mainifold section of exhaust from the front section. On auto models the trans cooler lines have to be unhooked. Its not technicaly hard - just a lot of hard work.

The gasket price seems okay - its a substaintial piece of rubber!

Just thought I'd add a little lateral thinking to the problem (as my wife would say). It may be possible to replace the sump gasket by dropping the front subframe and tackling the problem from the other direction. If this is possible it means you don't have to disturb the engine and accillaries.
Hope this helps!
