Another update : an RAC guy come in and had a look at it. He tightened the rev screw and it is now seems to be fine (fingers crossed)

Yes it makes more sense as how the trouble has started. Hopefully all is well.

Not unknown for the peddle box to come loose from the side wall in the drivers footwell giving slack cable back at the throttle
