Have just been given one of these - quite a remarkable big beast - 5.5 V8.

Anyone know what to look for on these? It's not ran for a while, but should be OK. Need an idea what to check out as I'll need to MOT it if I want to sell the private plate. And if it's MOTd I might as well sell it afterwards, it'd be a real shame to scrap it, despite the whopping 1.8tonne kerb weight!

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Oil change, and I'd consider draining the petrol from the tank as it will have degraded a bit.

Why does nobody ever give me cars :(

This is really one great car!

I remember that my father bought one in late 80's in Sweden. Grey metallic with light grey leather. Never broke down, but did develop rust around the bottom of the front doors and some rust around the booot lid.

Get it running....

Well it's not too bad, except it won't idle and cuts out at traffic lights etc.

All the brakes need done, but the floor, sills, box sections etc. all seem fine, and despite my first suspicions, the engine's fine (I thought the head gasket might be gone).

Just need to sort the idle problem and the fact it's a pig to start most of the time.

Almost everything works, except one window, the windscreen wipers and the numberplate lights. And the boot won't open.
