1988 560sl rough start

ok i posted earlier regarding this issue to no avail, so ill try to re phrase it in the hopes some 1 out there will asisst me.

i have a 1988 560sl, just purchased it 2 months ago. It runs great however, it is a beast to start. it turns over fine but wont fire for sometimes a minute and at these times when it finally does catch the idle is very rough. after sever seconds of rough idleing its fine. is there any 1 out there who can suggest to me what this issue might be or what is causing the hard starts?

Hi

The only thing two things I can suggest is. If the ABS light is on also. Then check & replace the overload protection relay fuse. Or check the distributor cap. IF you can get it off & make sure its not burn out.

Andy thanks so much for responding to my post.

No the ABS light is not on and I changed the cap rotor plugs.... and it worked well for a week. But seems to be sliding back prior to me replacing the ignition parts

I know of someone that has a 560 sec and has the same simpltoms. I would really like to get to the root of this too.

Could the cold start valve have something to do with this?

That was my first thought. I do not beliee it is fuel related. And it doesnt happen all the time. Frustrating...
