I have a '89 300e (109k miles) (fuel injected) that is flooding itself out. (It will start up and stall after about minute and then won't start until the next morning when it dries up) I have also pulled the plugs and watched the gas spray out of the plug holes while cranking it to prove its flooding.

I have replaced the fuel pressure regulator and OVP. The cold start valve has been bypassed to rule to out as the problem. I believe the fuel pump relay is fine as it is pumping ;) The idle control valve is working fine. I'm down to I have pulled out the distributor but not to sure on how to diagnose if it is working properly. I have also read about the EHA valve but sure how to diagnose that as well. I also noticed there is an electrical plug/sensor of some sort under the distributor connected to the block that is connected to the intake manifold. Not sure what that is or if it could be a problem as well.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

This may sound stupid but check if the ignition system working is correctly?

A quick way to check is to put a rubber handled screwdriver into a spark plug wire and hold the rubber handled screwdriver metal part close to the block or a ground piece of the body.

Have someone roll the motor and look for the spark to jump. Look to see what color the spark is it should be bluish white (Hot) if it is yellow or red your coil is weak replace it and then try to start the car.

If you recently replaced your plugs or wires check your firing order.

A friend of mine did not have a Mrec, but the principles are the same; he had a vehicle that was doing what sounds to be the same thing and it ended up he had a weak coil. Changed it out and it fired right up.

I had a Pontiac that the timing chain went out and it too would not start and all you could smell was the gas from it flooding out. I think you know where I am going with this.

Let me know if this helps.
Good Luck :!:
