I had this car for last five years. I never had any single problem until yesterday. It is completely down (no sign of power) even if jump started. Last time I started is about a month ago.

Only thing I did was tuning it up about two months ago. After that, I only started once (about a month ago). It started OK.

Yesterday I tried to start, but it refuses to power on. No beep sound when key is inserted. I even can't do power lock. Even I don't see any light showing on Dashboard.

My neighbor helped me to jump start it. No sign of any power at all. It looks like it is completely dead.

Is this something to do with fuses? It looks like all fuses look ok.
Is there any switch I can turn off and turn on to reset the whole car?

Thanks in advance,

Hanchol.

If the fuses are ok and everything is dead, have you made sure the battery is connected properly?

Double check that the earth strap is sound and that there is no corrosion on either the terminal or the earthing point. Do the same on the positive terminal - make sure the connection is good. Its best the physically remove the terminal adapter and gently clean the battery terminals with a wire brush, apply some vaseline to them and then refix.

I dont know if this is relevant but I had a problem with my auto 200T, The kick down kept sticking and the engine would not start, try kicking down with the ignition on and then turn off. After that try to start as normal.

Hi Hanchol,
I had a recurring problem with my 190E where it would occasionally cut out after long runs, replaced the fuel filter and all seems well. About a month after replacing the filter the car died about 200mtrs from my front door, very embarrasing my neighbours seeing me tow my car half way down my own street! This cut out like before except this time I had no warning lights on the dash when ignition turned. Local AA chap said it sounded like faulty earth, checked suspect earth(between engine and gearbox, underneath in centre of front wheels) and that was sound.
After a good 45mins farting about and blankly staring at the engine, willing it to burst into life, I fumbled with the battery leads again which I had already checked twice, and found the fault. The battery has two positive leads, one going to the engine/ignition and a thinner lead going through the bulkhead, both were connected but the thinner lead had a fractional amount of play, about 2-3mm. It was just a simple case of tightening the nut on the battery clamp and the car started first time no problem and has not happened again since.
Hope this helps, be very thorough with your wiring checks, I would have thought that the way in which this wire was found it would be 'connected' and easily make the circuit - oh how wrong I was!
