Help .. I am at a loss!!!

Car turns over and over and over and over... but won't start. Pulled
Air cleaner housing and checked fuel lines.. pumps like crazy. Put a
voltage meter on coil when I start it reads 12 volts. then pulled the
coil wire from the distributor tried to do spark test but didn't
really see anything. Metered coil wire and it also has 12 volts when
it's cranking. So now I am at a loss on what to do next.. Not sure
if the coil is putting out enough to send spark to sparkplugs. Any
and all suggestions would be helpful and greatly appreciated!!!

check this first then let us know

try taking out one of your spark plugs. Leave it connected to the lead. Make sure your not touching the electrode (youll regret it if u do!!) and get someone to crank the car. Observe to see if there is a spark at the plug. If theres no spark there, and theres 12 volts going into the coil then it means its either your leads (unlikely) or the distributer or coil...

cheers

To eliminate the distributer. Take the king lead off the distributer and position it so that the brass contact at the end is anything up to 6mm clear from an earthed point say the cylinder head. Crank the engine over. You should see a healthy blue spark. you can do the same with all the leads from the distributer to the spark plugs if the first test proves ok. That will confirm that it is the distributer. I prefer to do this rather than use the spark plug connected but laid on the rocker cover because it makes the spark more obvious and you don't have to take all the spark plugs out. Be careful about running the battery down. There are products available to assist but they are not necessary.

You could ask someone to turn the engine over whilst its dark. If you see any blue tracking along the king lead or around the distributer or coil then the lead has degraded or there is cracks in the cap.

Do not touch the leads whilst turning the engine. It will hurt and could cause a heart attack if aged or vulnerable or you indulge in a particular ly unhealthy lifestyle.

The leads may be sealed so that you cannot remove the lead from the cap. In which case use a lead off another car on the parts you can remove them from. My money is on fuel injection but let be no how you get on.
