My car was involved in a minor accident recently and now refuses to start. When the incident happened I didn’t stop the engine until I reached my destination but it refused to start once I had turned it off. Symptoms are as follows:
The engine cranks but does not fire. If I relock the car and the immobiliser it unlocks as usual (but does what is usual if I forget to unlock again to disable the normal immobiliser – ie, it cranks, fires once and then stops). Normally a relock and unlock twice solves this problem.
The red and green lamps by the door lock and on the rear view mirror binnacle flash a lot for some time.
The warning and indication lamps on the instrument panel all come on but don’t go off until I remove the key.
A scan with an iCarsoft produces the report “SRS airbag malfunction indicator lamp A1e15” No airbags were deployed.
I am told that removing the SRS module from underneath the radio will is easy and the module can be reprogrammed. I just need to move the car a short distance across a yard into the car bodyshop for minor repairs so not worried about driving on private land.
Does anyone have any experience of removing the module, and did taking the SRS module out allow the engine to start?
Many thanks!
