Hi everyone. I hope you all had an excellent x mas, I have noticed a little problem recently whereas the car will start from cold, run fine, then if i stop and select reverse it seems that there is no power, and the car will not move for a few seconds, then the revs gradually build and all is ok again,
Today i had cause to restart the engine immediately after a five mile journey and it took three attempts to start, it did start as normal but would not rev and then died again, on the third attempt it started and the revs built up again to normal. Appart from this everything is fine, i did a 90 mile journey yesterday without any problem.
I feel something is developing here, but obviously don't want to get stranded, i wondered whether to swap the battery as i dont know the age of it, and i have had it for two and a half years now.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Geoff.

OK it looks like i do have a MAF, although i did find that the oil dipstick was not pushed all the way into the tube, (the problem started at around the time of service six weeks ago) could this be the cause of my problem? or is it just coincidental?
Regards Geoff.

If it starts to miss behave,,unplug the MAF and try the car.
The MAF is one of the only things tah could behave in the way that yours is

Problem sorted!, I went to remove the MAF to inspect it and whilst unclipping the airfilter cover the other end of the air pipe just lifted out! it should have been held in by a large circular clip, but it looks like when it was last serviced they forgot to re insert it. Put it all back together and it runs fine. Thanks for all the help especially Malcolm.
regards Geoff.:D
