1997 C280 rattle

1997 C280 Sport: I've a slight rattle under acceleration coming from what I thought was the cat (in my case both) however took it too an exhaust centre and had them check it. Upon whacking the cat(s) a few times no sound was heard and they confirmed that every exhaust component was working fine. They did also comment that when pressing the accelerator pedal a jangling sound could be heard from what seemed to be in the area between the engine and the cat(s), gearbox area maybe??
Any ideas????
