1997 E280 Reverseing problems

Hi All this is my first Merc i've owned my 1997 E280 for just over a year and love it but I started getting problem's more or less from the begining when in reverse the car some times judders and then moves slowly,then the next time it works fine,then the next time it won't move at all (as if the clutch is slipping) then it works fine again.I have had the gearbox oil and filter changed and this has made no difference.I have been informed it could be electrical (something to do with electronics in the gearbox???) as i'm also haveing some problems with the immobiliser and spurious warnings coming up on the dash for no reason and then resetting.I would appreciate any help or advice(I've read on some of the forums that disconnecting the battery can help reset some of these problems.Is that the case???)

I would think your first course is to have any fault codes read, that would also help with the different faults your getting up on the dash!! it could be so many things, a list of fault codes would narrow it down!

Hard to get or sometimes no reverse could be the KS clutch leaky or gasket on large intermediate plate damaged,,it is a gearbox out job and you could be better off going to a gearbox center, I doi have a list of good ones
