2001 Y Reg 230 CLK Komressor Avantgarde - Noisy Engine

I have recently purchased a 2001 230 CLK Kompressor Avantgarde model with manual gear box. The car has done 90,000 miles and the engine sounds really loud as if it is a diesel engine. I have taken the car to the main delear and without any tests they think it is the supercharger that is making the noise!! As you can imagine it is quite an expensive job!

Any ideas? anyone with the same car has this problem?

I would really appreciate any suggestion, tips etc.

Check the intake pipes are secure and not leaking
