Think your first step should be to check Autobox fluid level.

Hello and welcome, as Chris above the fluid level is the first thing to do

Not sure about your model but mine was already in there but you need to check it with the following points observed...

Engine on and up to temp

Measure in DRIVE with parking brake ON (and i had my daughter sitting inside with foot on the footbrake as an added safety measure.)

Top up if ness with correct fluid avail from MB or Europarts (the latter about £7 p/Ltr through the dipstick tube at back of engine (your left if you are standing at front of car) near bulkhead

Don't think i have forgotten anything.........

Good luck,

I think you buy them from MB if not already there, then check as above.

No other way around it otherwise you could overfill.

All the best

The 722.6 box was never supplied with a dip stick, just the cap on the filling tube, you can make one from curtain wire, and details on the forum

Check under the box for leaks as my wifes c320 has started to leak from the gearbox elec connector.
The dipstick or curtian wire pushs into the tube until it hits the bottom of the sump then you pull it out and measure from the bototm of the stick upwards if that makes sense!
Engine has to be running and in park when dipping.
Bottom 2 marks are cold fluid and top 2 hot fluid

The reason for checking in drive is so that the rotating drums do not splash fluid onto the dipstick and give a false level reading, I always set the lever in reverse, same effect but if the car runs away at least it runs away from you and not towards you.

There is a flange rolled in at the bottom of the dip stick tube, if you hit that it will show nothing, just rotate it slowly as you push it in and it will go to the bottom, no force required

hey guys. Dipped the car using curtain wire and a s far as i can see its between the top two marks when its cold. it has a wizzzing noise when in park and neutral which goes away when she pulls while selecting gear. ive heard about the wee filter which is inside the box is it possible that this is blocked? any steps in the right direction would be great thanks

I think that the noise is normal and no indication that the filter is blocked

I have been through all of it and nothing listed for the intermittent drive, all I can think of is the noise is from a disconnected / fractured pipe from the pump. The easiest way is to find an indie with STAR
