I have just bought a '03 A140 LWB with an Auto gearbox (with tiptronic selector). It has 9,500 miles on the clock and is in almost mint condition.

So far, I am happy with my purchase. It's only a Classic spec but has some extras like Avantgarde alloys.

I've noticed a few small niggles. I wonder have any of you encountered similar issues.

Both front electric windows seem to struggle when rolling down. It's as if the rubbers at the bottom of the windows are too tight or the tracks are too narrow! They roll up perfectly. Now, I know that it has been damp the past few days  so I don't know if it's weather related. The kind of jerk against the rubber seals for the first third of a full opening procedure. This could hardly be doing the motors any good ?

The other relates to the gearbox. Its a full automatic but has the handy feature of being able to be used as a tiptronic box when in Drive (optional).

I have noticed with the window(s) rolled down that there is a quite audible "buzzing" sound as it changes gear. You cannot hear it with the windows up and I had thought that the gearbox was extremely smooth. I don't know if this noise is normal or not. My friend (who knows a bit about cars) thinks its sounds like a servo motor noise and is probably okay.
Am I being paranoid?!

Im new to this forum. I would be very grateful if you have any ideas.

Can't answer your particular questions, but as the car is still under warranty, just swing past your dealership and ask if somebody from the service department could take a quick look.....that will hopefully point you in the right direction.

Good luck

I have an A140 with the same gear system as yours and have noticed the noise you mention. I took it to MB and they said it was normall. Have you had your looked at? what did they say?
