Got a 2005 C55 AMG

It intermittently comes up with 2 malfunctions :-

- Check washer fluid level
- Check coolant level

Neither are low and the car doesn't run hot.
Been in MB twice now and changed the coolant sensor, but the darn thing keeps popping up.

Also changed the battery, but no improvement.

Can someone save me from this headache :(

Welcome o learned one. Intermittent problems are always the worst kind. The fact is that you know they are spurious, so you can use the car but it should not be so.

Wiser counsel than mine will say if these could be rectified with STAR.

My "gut feel" is that there is a problem somewhere on a pathway common to both.

I get the same two messages on my C270 but it normally coincides with a low washer fluid level. Top the washer bottle up and the coolant level problem disappears. Maybe it's just another clever MB innovation

Hi,
Welcome to the forum,
I had a similar problem on my 202 c class, and it turned out to be fauly washer bottle level sensor which was turning on the coolant level warning light, it was something to do with the way they were wired. Though i have never heard this sort of fault on a 203, i think i would be tempted to replace the washer bottle sensor should,nt be to expensive, circa £20, and i believe an easy DIY job.

Thanks chaps.
Well that is interesting, as it initally came on when the washer fluid was low.

The washer fluid sensor is being changed shortly, so will see how it goes after that

Interestingly enough, I had a multitude of error codes come up about a year ago and the battery was dud. Clearly the electronic sensors on these Mercs must be Italian.......... 'they give the car character' :D

There you go testing us again Malcolm - but we know what you mean! ;)

they are wired like fairy lamps on the Xmas tree, if one goes out they all go out,,but you do not know which one.

So you have no means of knowing what one,,you can see the header tank level with ease,,if thats OK fill the washer bottle, if the lamp is still on the one on the level sensors is faulty
