Well that deal is off then!!!!

Not necessarily... The chap's name they've listed is the chappie I'm dealing with!

In order to try and be as fair as possible to them, I have asked them to provide a little more info before they go shipping cars about, etc!

There's a strong argument for the E over the C, given the bulk of my mileage (I came out of a CLS remember). However, I do like the overall package of the C63 though, especially once/if the obvious bit is/could be sorted; the E will have to present a sound case for itself, in all respects.

I like the E, my preference would be a CLS 63 AMG SB

I agree packaging wise the C is great particularly with that engine in.

Time will tell on what they come up with though, the 5.5 is supposed to be a great engine

I love the CLS, but the SB is probably a wee bit too big for what I need.

The C is a good balance; small enough to still be wieldy and have a bit of fun, can seat 4 or 5 if needed, decent boot, reasonably comfortable on a run, etc.

Couple of bits that stood out coming straight from my CLS were some of the peripherals weren't finished quite as nicely, and the C has a couple of squeaks that were noticeably missing in the CLS. I'm assuming (given the E is a class up from C, and from their pics) that these should be an improved upon in the E (unless it's a duffer!).

The E should be better finished, I will prob move "up" to one next (estate) I would really like a CLS SB though just for the looks, I chatted to the owner of a SB 63 AMG in Feb, he said it was the best car he had had (he also tried to convince me the badge on the front wing stood for economy)!!! Sounded amazing.

My C doesn't squeak and is supposed to have a crappy interior as it's pre-facelift (according to many on here), the ****** kids seat does rattle when empty though!!!!

Sensibly a C63 AMG estate would suffice for me (the 507 in plymouth is stunning)

You're a man after my own heart. I am currently working the Jedi Mind Tricks to convince the wife we need a CLS SB. But will prob end up with the E Estate.

The kids seats in mine make noises too. I spent 4hrs the other day looking for a rattling noise that turned out to be a toy in baby seat!

My pre-facelift C has a good interior. The only thing I am not overly enamoured with is the instrument cluster having seen the facelift one. But it does the job so can't grumble.

I'm doing exactly the same Carl although it doesn't seem to be working at the moment

I do like the cluster in mine, very easy on the eye, good spread of info.

I think the squeaks are probably largely attributed to the 19s and AMG Perf Pack suspension. They're not too bad by and large, but there are a couple there in the dash (one in the driver's side air vent I think), and one in the rear somewhere.

No need for Yoda by the way... Just turn up with the car... SWMBO will never know... Well, probably won't. As long as it has heated seats! :)

I've trained mine too well. She would know straight away when the 5.5 V8 burbled into life. ;)

Despite the fact it's my money (as she is a stay at home mum for now until both kids are in primary school. Then she will go back to teaching.) I still have to have an interview and have exhausted all options to prove I'm getting value for money before I'm allowed to spend it!

Bought a new Audi S3 and car had a wheel alignment problem from day one (pulling left) which Audi factory could never rectify. Cut a long story short Audi refunded full purchase price no question. So mabe go MBUK and stop fiddling around...the dealer is never is totally committed to your well-being...they always put their business before the client. You only have one shot at this so explore all the avenues before taking the dealer offering.

Thanks Bogey. We've got as far as buying the car back at invoice cost, but I be said that doesn't really cut it; I've spent time money & effort sourcing this car, looking after it, the 2 months run-around etc, and being left without a car... which wasn't "Square 1" for me.

So, things are moving... Just need to see where they head!

Well, they acquired the E, sent me a video of it, but as yet no mention of what numbers they're expecting.

I'd send them a reply saying that you're happy with it being a straight swap. They'll soon do the figures then....
