220 cdi black smoking

can anybody help?x reg w210 220cdi terrible black smoke when engine is pulling hard-turbo fan is spinning ok-could it be a sensor ? or injectors? is it possible to have the injectors rebuilt if thats the problem?would appreciate some advice-many thanks- morganite

Could be..

Blocked air filter;
Holed intercooler/ turbo hose
MAF

Best get it to a good indie to have a looksee.

Air filter blocked possible,, you could un plug the MAF and try the car

yes, could also be sticking egr valve. most likely one of the above, probably not the maf though.

Had a run of the egr transponders go down in the last month or so, seems to be getting more common!!
