230te intermitant cutting out + poor starting

Hope someone can help me.

My 230te auto intermitantly misfires then stalls, then starting is sometimes not too easy.. The car has had a new rear fuel pump, filter and spark plugs

I ran the car out of fuel last week which seems to have triggerd the problem because the gague was reading 1/4 full when the fuel seemed to run out, (maybe the inlet and outlet pipes were fitted the wrong way round).

From Cold it seems to cut out less than when it gets warmer..

Can anyone give me any pointers????

New fuel pump that sounds painful on the wallet.

Check the fuel pump relay. It has protection circuits in it. You don't say what series vehicle it is but if it is getting on a bit you might have a dry joint in the relay. It is easily repaired and I have offered advice on the process in the past.

If it doesn't start next time you get in, give a large boot to the outside panel of the passengers footwell and see it that improves things.
