250TD Erratic Starting

What do I do? The care starts in the morning, I drive my little one to nursery, 2 mins max, then it won't start again! Got a new battery, then when I'm jump started, the motor starts within a couple of turns. I love my merc - it's old - 1996, with 125,000 on the clock and I know if I take it to the dealer I'll get a bill for £1,000! Please help, any ideas welcome so I can discuss sensibly with a local garage.

Is it not starting when it is warm or just generally not starting. Would it restart after a long run or just not re-start after a short run?

What model is this? Rectangular-headlight W124 or round-headlight W210? Is it a UK car?

I am taking a guess that its a 202 250TD

Cant be an air lock as it starts from cold

CPS can do this when warm, but I fail to see the jump start connection with this.

Fuel pump relay ?? they are not so consistent when dry jointed

When you say it won't start again, what exactly do you mean? Does it turn over? If it does, does it fire at all or just turn over & nothing happens?

Does the car have an immobiliser fitted?

What I am reading into it now Nick is that a jump starts the car, but it cant start off its own battery
