Hi Guys

Just wanted to know how easy or difficult a water pump change on a 300 CE 24v is. Mine has developed quite a serious leak and so needs replacing. Ive ordered one from Europarts and just wanted some assistance.

Thanks

It's not for the nervous mechanic!

Have a search on http://www.mercedesshop.com/shopfor...5a2c432f6174f99f48dbc93b067a272&forumid=1

There are loads of excellent step by step descriptions of how to perform this operation.

You will take anywhere between 4 to 8 hours, and need a good selection of tools. In Haynes speak, I would rate it at 3.5 spanners difficulty !

Oh, and as my local MB specialist pointed out to me last time I saw him, it would have taken less time if I had removed the radiator first! I did it with the radiator in place and have the skinned knuckles to prove it :)

Good Luck,

300 CE 24V Water Pump Change

Hi

Took your advice, and took out the radiator.

The biggest problem was getting the correct WP. The Europarts one was for a 300CE but not for the 24V. I finally tracked down what I needed and it was the same as the WP from an S280. The 24V has 2 sensors on top of the WP and one on the side.

Took me almost 8 hours to do as I think someone had changed it in the past and put different bolts in

But all is well.

Thanks again!!!!
