Just wanted to know how easy or difficult a water pump change on a 300 CE 24v is. Mine has developed quite a serious leak and so needs replacing. Ive ordered one from Europarts and just wanted some assistance.
There are loads of excellent step by step descriptions of how to perform this operation.
You will take anywhere between 4 to 8 hours, and need a good selection of tools. In Haynes speak, I would rate it at 3.5 spanners difficulty !
Oh, and as my local MB specialist pointed out to me last time I saw him, it would have taken less time if I had removed the radiator first! I did it with the radiator in place and have the skinned knuckles to prove it
The biggest problem was getting the correct WP. The Europarts one was for a 300CE but not for the 24V. I finally tracked down what I needed and it was the same as the WP from an S280. The 24V has 2 sensors on top of the WP and one on the side.
Took me almost 8 hours to do as I think someone had changed it in the past and put different bolts in
