I've come across a Mercedes 300D 1986 which has been face lifted to 1994.
The seller doesn't appear trustworthy to me. I asked for the serialnumber and he gave me this
WDB1241301Axxxxxx (I left out the xxxx but I have those too)
When I look at the different chassis numbers I can't get it to match anything. I can see there is a 123.130 and there is a 124.030. The first one is not a 1986 but the last one is.
Could this be a valid serial number (the 124.130) or is something wrong here?
I'm considering calling the police on him if the serialnumber is fake. He has already given me a fake name and a fake address. He is acutally selling cars in another man's name. He shows up close to where the other man lives and just pretends that he is him and then sells used cars.
If the car is a 123.130 will doors and hood/front from a 1994 W124 fit? I can see there is a very poor fit on the front doors. The front of the doors rub against something when they open wide causing the paint to rub off.
I know his entire operation is a scam but I'd like to know the extent of it.
