I have recently become the proud owner of a 91' 300e sportline and would love to know more about the spec. It's done 85k and is immaculate inside, a few touch up's required outside, which i'm getting done this weekend.

How much do these go for? I've checked Parker's guide but they don't mention the sportline. I want to know if i've got myself a deal or not.

The handling on this car is superb, better than my old saab 900 turbo.

Any info would be most welcome.

Thanks,
James

I don't have any plans to sell this beauty, but to find out more about it.

Apart from reading bits and pieces on the forum, i don't know much about the spec, 0-60, top speed, etc. Parkers guide gave the bhp and insurance group but not much else.

Is the sportline edition the same as the regular 300e??

Again, any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

James

Basically the engine is the same, just some trim if optioned or suspension/steering bits if optioned. Could be both together.

Not really worth more than a standard car cos nobody knows what they are.

Brochures sometimes turn up on E-Bay, but they are only a couple of pages and not very descriptive.

Is it a coupe, saloon or estate? and what are the seats like?

Thanks for the reply Bazza.

The seats are the sportline option i think. checked cloth. The suspension is lower and it is a 4 door saloon.
It has a straight 6 cylinder engine and is the 4 speed automatic.

I'll give ebay a try.

Thanks,

James

I own a 1991 300E Sportline in Powder Blue. You should have the wider alloys on your car than the standard 300E. 205/60 R15. The suspension is lower and stiffer (different springs, anti-roll bar, and shocks than standard). Also the steering ratio is quicker than standard.

There were many other options that could be specced like special leather seats, gear knob etc... There are people here who know a lot more than me.

There were 2 packs, interior or handling.

You could have a Sportline without the lower suspension or wider alloys

I have a copy of the showroom brouchure from 1991. As previous repiles have indicated you specified what you wanted to be fitted.

The suspension has been hardened by 20% (springs and dampers) with more direct steering. Bodywork lowered by 32mm and it should have wider tyres.

The seats (either the checked cloth or leather) are more contoured and they came with a leather gear knob! on the manual versions.

As an indication I have the 24v estate and the extras fitted (ex vat) were:

Sports seats (cloth) £700
Sports pack (suspension) £700
Five speed auto £570

This bought the price to over £40k when new......cheap at twice the price!

Sportline 300. Go to page 1 of the 'Techy Questions'. 'Talbir' left a link today which will give you information on YOUR car believe it or not! All you have to do is key in your VIN No. You may find it quite interesting!
Cheers, Tom.
