300TE Auto tranny oil change....?

Just want to change the auto tranny oil on my 300TE S6 12V - have ordered the original MERC tranny filter and sump gasket but need advice whether to resort to original MERC tranny oil or alternative from Auto shops will do? What is the correct oil spec and how much will be required? I understand I will have to drain the Torque Converter as well.

Probably too late a response, but in case it is useful to others . . . if your chassis is 124.090 and it has a cat and therefore autobox 722.351, the initial-fill capacity is 7.3 litres and the quantity at oil change is 6.2 litres. Figures from MB's Technical data passenger cars (Oct 1993).
